The university of Vermont (UVM) was four red in 1792 as a public research university in Burlington, Vermont and recorded its first set of students 10 years later then graduated its first class graduated of students in 1804. The institution is the state’s land-grant university. University of Vermont is the oldest universities in the United States. It is the fifth institution of higher education established in the New England region of the U.S northeast. It has a  Dudley H. Davis Center which is the first to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification. The institution’s medical centre is the largest in Vermont. The University of Vermont draws 6.8 percent of its annual budget of about $600 million from the State of Vermont and Vermont residents make up 35 percent of enrollment, while 65 percent of students come from elsewhere.The University of Vermont comprises seven undergraduate schools, an honors college, a graduate college, and a college of medicine. The Honors College does not offer its own degrees; students in the Honors College concurrently enroll in one of the university’s seven undergraduate colleges or schools.

Bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs are offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Social Services, the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the Graduate College, the Grossman School of Business, and the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.
